Mentoring Cohorts and Supporting Future Courses
BMSC alumni play an important role in supporting new cohorts by sharing practical experience and professional insights gained since completing their training. Through structured mentorship and informal engagement, alumni help incoming participants contextualize course content, understand operational realities, and translate learning into practical application within their home agencies. This peer-to-peer support strengthens continuity across BMSC courses and reinforces alumni leadership within the broader professional community.
Contributing as Guest Speakers and Subject-Matter Practitioners
Alumni are regularly invited to contribute to BMSC webinars, courses, and virtual events as guest speakers and practitioners. Drawing on their operational experience, alumni provide regionally grounded perspectives on emerging challenges, good practices, and lessons learned in border management. Their participation helps ensure that BMSC activities remain relevant, practitioner-focused, and responsive to real-world operational needs.
Engaging Through Regional Alumni Reunions and Consultations
Regional alumni reunions and thematic alumni meetings provide a forum for graduates to reconnect, exchange experiences, and discuss shared challenges and opportunities. These engagements also allow alumni to advise BMSC directly on evolving border security needs from a border-agent-centric perspective. Alumni feedback gathered through these discussions helps inform course content, regional programming, and future activities aimed at strengthening effective, cooperative border management.
